Huh?

Tuesday, August 29, 2006
I got this chain email below from a friend of mine I haven't seen in a long time. I was quite surprised to receive this from her but, I guess people change. I will not comment on this one, although I wasn't aware that ACLU was trying to get rid of Christmas:

Subject: Christmas Cards???

Yes, Christmas cards. This is coming early (really early) so that you can get ready to include an important address to our list.Read on........

What a GREAT idea!Fun with the ACLU......(American Liberties Civil Union)Wanna have some fun this CHRISTMAS? Send the ACLU a CHRISTMAS CARD this year.

As they are working so very hard to get rid of the CHRISTMAS part of this holiday, we should all send them a nice, CHRISTIAN, card to brighten up their dark, sad, little world.
Make sure it says "Merry Christmas" on it.

Here's the Address, just don't be rude or crude. (It's Not the Christian Way, you know!)

ACLU
125 Broad Street
18th Floor
New York, NY 10004

Two tons of Christmas cards would freeze their operations because they wouldn't know if any were regular mail containing contributions. So spend 39 cents and tell the ACLU to leave Christmas alone. Also tell them that there is no such thing as a "Holiday Tree". . . . It's a Christmas Tree even in the fields!!

And pass this on to your email lists. We really want to communicate with the ACLU! They really DESERVE us!!

Moby - Extreme Ways

Extreme ways are back again
Extreme places I didnt know
I broke everything new again
Everything that Id owned
I threw it out the windows, came along
Extreme ways I know move apart
The colors of my sea
Perfect color me
Extreme ways that that help me
Help me out at nightExtreme places I had gone
But never seen any light
Dirty basements, dirty noise
Dirty places coming through
Extreme worlds alone
Did you ever like it planned

I would stand in line for this
Theres always room in life for this

Oh baby, oh baby
Then it fell apart, fell apart
Oh baby, oh baby
Then it fell apart, it fell apart
Oh baby, oh baby
Then it fell apart, it fell apart
Oh baby, oh baby
Like it always does, always does

Extreme songs that told me
They helped me down every night
I didnt have much to say
I didnt get above the light
I closed my eyes and closed myself
And closed my world and never opened
Up to anything
That could get me along

I had to close down everything
I had to close down my mind
Too many things to cover me
Too much can make me blind
Ive seen so much in so many places
So many heartaches, so many faces
So many dirty things
You couldnt believe

I would stand in line for this
Its always good in life for this

Oh baby, oh baby
Then it fell apart, fell apart
Oh baby, oh baby
Then it fell apart, it fell apart
Oh baby, oh baby
Then it fell apart, it fell apart
Oh baby, oh baby
Like it always does, always does

Free first class trip with my $$

It's interesting how finding some guy who may be the killer of JonBenet Ramsey makes headline news, while the killings of tens of Iraqis have become so common (daily) they are second rank news.

However, the point of this venting is that today prosecutors dropped these murder charges against John M. Karr because his DNA did not match the one found on the crime scene. OK...that happens, but why in the hell was he flown here immediately from Thailand, on a commercial plan, in first class??? Why couldn't they do the DNA testing while he was in custody in Thailand? Think of the thousands of tax-payers' dollars wasted: several agents and J.K. flying first class - I doubt they searched for the best deal on Hotwire. First slap in my face was seeing this J.K. guy sipping champagne while flying here to, possibly, get fried. And the second one was that, apparently, prosecutors fucked up and brought in the wrong guy! Who is responsible for my damn money? If they fucked up, I think those moron prosecutors should pay all those expenses from their tax-payer paid salaries!

Pink Floyd - Sorrow

The sweet smell of a great sorrow lies over the land
Plumes of smoke rise and merge into the leaden sky:
A man lies and dreams of green fields and rivers,But awakes to a morning with no reason for waking

Hes haunted by the memory of a lost paradise
In his youth or a dream, he cant be precise
He's chained forever to a world thats departed
Its not enough, its not enough

His blood has frozen & curdled with fright
His knees have trembled & given way in the night
His hand has weakened at the moment of truth
His step has faltered

One world, one soul
Time pass, the river rolls

Its not enough its not enough
His hand has faltered

.... .... ......

And he talks to the river of lost love and dedication
And silent replies that swirl invitation
Flow dark and troubled to an oily seaA grim intimation of what is to be
Theres an unceasing wind that blows through this night
And theres dust in my eyes, that blinds my sight
And silence that speaks so much louder that words,
Of promises broken

Immigrants' fault?!

Sunday, August 27, 2006
"They're taking our jobs, our homes," said Debbie Rawlins, 48. "There's unemployment partly because of the Hispanics. The lady that took my job is Hispanic and she's bilingual." This quote was taken from here.

There are two things I don't understand in this quote from this lady (I could start judging her and say a few adjectives but I better not):
  1. How is it the Hispanics' fault that they're bilingual? Since when did being bilingual become a crime anyway? If she took your job because she's bilingual, maybe you should take your fat ass off the couch and instead of watching Jerry Springer, learn a new skill - or a new language - to be competitive.
  2. How exactly are the Hispanics taking your homes?! I find it very impossible for illegals to go and take someone's home forcefully. If they're buying your home, then WTF is wrong with that? Noone is forcing you to sell it. You're offering to sell it, they're buying it, it's called market economy, look it up - but you won't find its definition on Jerry Springer!

Ah, those beavers...

Tuesday, August 15, 2006
I try to watch Jay Leno's show whenever I can - especially on Monday nights because I find those "Headlines" hilarious. Tonight they had a rerun (which I hadn't seen before) and had "Jay walking" instead of the headlines. Jay was quizzing people on the street about state slogans, e.g. "Which one is the Garden State?" Apparently, all of them had no idea about these slogans. [beginning of shameless plug]I impressed myself by actually knowing most of them [end of shameless plug]

The most hilarious one came from this blondie (girl) who was asked which one was the Beaver State (Oregon - I didn't know this one). She said she didn't believe there's a beaver state, because if there was, she'd feel sorry for people who live there. Her reason for feeling sorry: "There must be nothing to do there, those people get bored and just play with beavers!"

If that's the case, blondie, I'm packing and driving to OR first thing in the morning! :)

Wax on, wax off...

Monday, August 14, 2006

I spent a good chunk of my afternoon yesterday doing something that was long overdue. No, I wasn't doing any suspicious thing like Mr. Miyagi seems to be doing to Daniel on this photo: I washed, de-oxidized, polished and waxed my car.

I have to say, however, that Mr. Miyagi (RIP) was right about that wax on, wax off training, cause it sure works out some muscles. Apparently, my regular work out is not hitting those - and I'm not happy. Cause I sure don't want to wax my car every other day! It gets expensive with all those products that I need to use!

I also used, for the first time, a scratch-remover from Mother's, called "California Gold Scratch Remover." I am a little skeptical about such products but this baby really worked! I had a couple of scratches on my doors, courtesy of assholes on parking lots who open their doors like they own the f... parking lot. Now these scratches are gone! Thank you Mother!

The Sound of Silence

Sunday, August 13, 2006
bizele reminded me of this really nice song by Simon and Garfunkel:

Hello darkness, my old friend,
I've come to talk with you again,
Because a vision softly creeping,
Left its seeds while I was sleeping,
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence.

In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone,
'Neath the halo of a street lamp,
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of
a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence.

And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more.
People talking without speaking,
People hearing without listening,
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one deared
Disturb the sound of silence.

"Fools" said I,"You do not know
Silence like a cancer grows.
Hear my words that I might teach you,
Take my arms that I might reach you."
But my words like silent raindrops fell,
And echoedIn the wells of silence

And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made.
And the sign flashed out its warning,
In the words that it was forming.
And the signs said, The words of the prophets
are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls.
And whisper'd in the sounds of silence.

Enough is enough!

It's been over a month since the Israeli offensive on Lebanon started and I've kept my mouth shut. Although I've thought about writing something, I have held myself back for some very strong personal reasons.

Today I read about the UN peace deal. I wouldn't have reacted had I not read this: ""Today we call upon every state, especially Iran and Syria, to respect the sovereignty of the Lebanese government and the will of the international community," Rice told the council." WTF? I am fully aware how there's a general belief (which I am not disputing) that Hezbollah is armed, supported, etc. by those two countries. But last time I checked, neither one of those countries had any soldiers in Lebanon (Syria left a few months ago), let alone bomb the shit out of Lebanon!

I better stop before I say things I shouldn't say.

Huh?

Stupid product of the day

Wednesday, August 09, 2006
I know a few people who are iPod (and Apple) fanatics, despite the fact that some other MP# players have better/more features as well as a lower price.

In any case, I'm not going to argue about that right now. I saw this product (pic on the right) on this website. Why would someone need this for those long 7.5 minutes they are "taking care of business?" Have we really become so attached to our freakin' music that we can't live 7.5 minutes without it?

I guess someone will accuse me of stealing his idea of product of the day - but don't worry JD, I can't write as good of a review as you can :P

Grammar

There's this rather large cell phone store and right above their Verizon phones, they had this printed sign that said "CAN YOU HERE ME NOW." No, but perhaps I can HEAR you... .

Damn it!

As if the price of gasoline wasn't high enough, now this shit has to happen! No wonder people believe in conspiracies! Arrgh! I'm so pissed off right now! I better go buy a @#$& bicycle!

Today

I have this tendency (sometimes!) to, briefly, take a look at the drivers on each side of me. I guess it's a reflex, as I try to make sure I know what cars (or space) I have on each side when I drive, just to be on the safe side...as I speed through. Some people truly amaze me. Today, this girl in a blue Saturn, with a license plate that said "ZETA", with a triple chin, made an impression on me with her driving skills - or lack of them. She had her phone stuck between her shoulder and one of her chins, babbling away, while she was eating with a spoon or fork...from a container...that she was holding. I'm not sure who was driving that car - perhaps she was part of a test drive of a car with auto pilot?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There's this stupid lemonade song playing on the radio. I think it's sad how most of the music on the radio is just some beats with no content whatsoever. Here's what this 20-year old or whatever sings:
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
Huh?? Now that's pretty deep... .

What the... bratwurst?

This guy is a freak! Can someone do an x-ray or MRI or something of him to see what does he have instead of a normal stomach?

Brain washing

I've said it several times that I love this country and (most) of its people, but this new poll embarrasses the hell out of me! I just hope there are some major errors in this poll or they took it with people who live far away from civilization.

Uh...

I have been using Excite.com as a portal for a while, through which I can get news in areas I'm interested in. Today there was an eye-catching ad there and it led to >this. I don't even know what to make of it... .
